Kids Ride-On Excavator with Trailer, Pedal-Powered Construction Toy

Aviora Family™ Groundworks Ride-On Excavator

A digger with a trailer behind it, powered entirely by a pair of legs. Your child sits, pedals, digs, loads the trailer and drives it somewhere else — which is a full day's work when you are four.

In everyday use

It belongs on a patio, a lawn or a driveway, ideally near something diggable. The pedals mean it goes at the speed your child can generate, which is the right speed. The trailer is what turns it from a ride-on into a job: things get loaded, moved and unloaded, and the route gets longer every time. It works indoors on hard floors too, though the digging is less satisfying.

Key features

Pedal powered
No batteries, no charging, no speed you did not choose — it moves because they pedal.

A trailer
Somewhere to put what has been dug, which is what makes the game a task rather than a lap.

Ride-on scale
Sized for a child to get on and off unaided.

A construction toy that moves
Digging and driving in the same object, outdoors.

The edit

Ride-ons that do nothing get ridden for a week. Ride-ons with a mechanism and somewhere to put things get played with for a year, because the child invents the job and then does it. Pedals rather than a motor is the other deliberate choice here: the effort is part of the appeal, and nothing runs out of charge halfway down the garden.
