Aviora Family™ — Lumi Baby Monitor

Aviora Family™ — Lumi Baby Monitor

The first hour after they go down is the one you spend listening. This gives you something to look at instead — a 1080p picture of a sleeping baby, clear enough in a dark room to tell whether they are settling or waking.

In everyday use

It sits on a shelf or a chest of drawers with a view of the cot. The part that matters is what it does with almost no light: a low-light sensitivity of 0.01 lux means you can see the room after the lamp goes off, which is the only time you actually need it. It connects over your network, so the picture is available from downstairs, from the garden, or from a chair in the next room. It runs from -10°C to 50°C, so a cold nursery in winter is not a problem.

Key features

1080p
A resolution high enough to see breathing and movement rather than a shape.

Works in a dark room
0.01 lux minimum illumination, for the hours the monitor is actually being used.

A wide 3.6 mm lens
Enough coverage to keep a cot in frame without needing to be aimed precisely.

Network connected
A network camera, so the view travels around the house with you.

A clean picture
A CMOS sensor with a signal-to-noise ratio above 60 dB, which is what keeps a dark image from turning to grain.

The edit

Audio monitors tell you that something has happened. A camera tells you what. That distinction is the difference between going upstairs and deciding not to — and over a year of evenings, deciding not to is worth a great deal. We chose this one for its low-light performance above everything else, because a monitor that needs a lamp on is a monitor that does not work.

Specifications

A monitor is not a substitute for supervision. Keep all cables well out of reach of the cot.

Something to look at, not just listen to. Better days. Together.
