Aviora Family™ Little Builder Workshop

Aviora Family™ Little Builder Workshop

A hammer, a screwdriver, a wrench, a saw and a vice that actually grips. This is the bench where a three-year-old works out that tools do things — and then spends an hour finding out what.

In everyday use

The tabletop sits at 16 inches, which is standing height for a small builder, so it becomes a station rather than something to sit at. Puzzle blocks and a road-themed surface mean the play does not stop when the tools are put down: cars get built, roads get laid, and the bench turns into a table. It works well in a playroom corner or against a wall in a living room, where a child can come and go from it across an afternoon.

Key features

Real tool shapes
A hammer, screwdriver, wrench, saw and triangle ruler — recognisable tools that map onto the ones in your own drawer.

A working vice
The vice grips, which is the detail that separates a toy bench from a picture of one.

A road-themed tabletop
The surface is part of the game: build a car, then drive it somewhere.

Puzzle blocks in different shapes
Shapes to fit, stack and combine, so the bench has an open-ended half as well as a task-based one.

16-inch working height
Sized for standing play and for hands that are still learning to grip and turn.

The edit

Role play is at its best when the props do something. A vice that grips and blocks that genuinely fit teach a child that effort produces a result, which is a more interesting lesson than any toy hammer noise. We chose this one because it has two modes in a single object — a workbench when the tools are out, a play table when they are not — and because a standing-height station gets used far more than a floor toy does.
