Aviora Family™ DinoCatch Magnetic Fishing Game

Aviora Family™ DinoCatch Magnetic Fishing Game

Two rods, twelve fish, and a tray small enough to sit on a kitchen table. It is a game that gives a toddler something genuinely difficult to do with their hands — and gives you a quarter of an hour at the same table, doing something else.

In everyday use

It comes out on rainy afternoons, at the table before dinner, and in a bag on long journeys. Two rods means two players, so it works for siblings or for you and one child. Set to the easier mode it is achievable for a very young player; switched to the harder one it stays worth doing for a while longer. At 22 by 16.5 cm it packs down small enough to travel.

Key features

Magnets that hold
Strong magnets in both the rods and the fish, so the catch stays on the line instead of dropping on the way up.

Two difficulty modes
A regular level and an advanced one, so the game grows with your child rather than being outgrown in a fortnight.

Twelve fish, two rods
Enough pieces for two players, which turns a solo activity into taking turns.

A dinosaur play tray
A printed dinosaur and ocean scene in blue or green, giving the game somewhere to happen.

Small enough to carry
22 × 16.5 cm, with smooth rounded edges, so it goes in a bag without a second thought.

The edit

Fishing games are one of the few toys where the difficulty is honest: either the magnet catches or it does not, and a child can see straight away whether they got it right. That immediate feedback is what makes toddlers keep trying. The second difficulty setting is what makes this one last past the point where the first is easy — and the fact it fits in a bag is what makes it get used at all.
