Three floors, seven rooms, thirty-one pieces of furniture, and a corner of a bedroom that has just become somewhere else entirely. This is the toy children come back to on their own — not because it does anything, but because there is always another room to rearrange.

In everyday use

It stands in a corner and stays there. The curved back is designed to sit into the angle of two walls, so it takes a piece of the room that was doing nothing and turns it into the busiest part of the floor. Play tends to run long: a child sets up the kitchen, moves the piano, decides who sleeps where, and half an hour goes by. It is equally good with one child and with two on either side.

The edit

A dollhouse is one of the few toys that a child genuinely authors. Nothing happens unless they decide it does, and that is the whole point — the rooms are a set, and the story is theirs. We chose this one for the corner design as much as the seven rooms: it is a substantial piece of furniture, and being able to tuck it into an angle is the difference between it living in the bedroom and living in the garage.
